Options leave us open to experiencing dissatisfaction if our perspective is self centred and shallow.
God created variety as part of His desire for us to have life and have it to the full. He demonstrates, through His wondrous creations, how much life there is to be had, to be appreciated and experienced. A life that is unadulterated - free of cheap thrills that lure us away from actual joy and fulfilment.
We delude ourselves by thinking God doesn't know the definition of fun, and that He is all about deprivation and rules and regulations that hem us in because He doesn't want us to be happy. God gets associated with narcissism, devastation and lack of good, when the opposite is true. He gave a covenant, and then when we proved unable to fulfil our end of the bargain, He held up that side too. Just for us to have connectedness with Him forever and be loved and blessed.
